me thinking. I think this is a remarkable show. In some part because it suits my ear, today. In part because of the set lists, which include some of my favorites. But mostly because the music is exporatory throughout. Bobby really seems to be in a mood to find some unique chords - a mood that seems to inspire the rest of the boys to up their game as well.

Another strong spring 81 outing for the boys

nice Sugaree, Bird Song, and Althea in set one. In set two, a killer Scarlet>Fire gets things moving with a flowing transition by Garcia that builds into melodious, repetitive peak. Estimated has some heat heading into Terrapin (which is also a fine version), and NFA rocks out (Bobby actually sounds good on slide to my ears!). A beautiful, soaring Stella Blue just about caps the set off. Basically all of set 2 is money in the bank if you dig this era.

nice show for a nice year. Birdsong, Candyman is nice. And the guitar makes up for what the lyrics lack on Terrapin.
